Burt Bacharach Performs "What the World Needs Now is Love" at the White House
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a concert in the East Room of the White House to honor songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David, winners of the 2012 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. President Obama presented the award and the concert, "Burt Bacharach & Hal David" featured performances by Sheryl Crow, Michael Feinstein, Diana Krall, Lyle Lovett, Mike Myers, Rumer, Arturo Sandoval, Sheléa and Stevie Wonder. This was the first time the Gershwin Prize honor was awarded to a songwriting team.
