Edgar Allan Poe meets Lizzie Borden: Museum presents tales of terror

The Herald News

FALL RIVER — Tales of terror read aloud, in a house that is reportedly "haunted"?

Two great tastes come together in a night of selected works by Edgar Allan Poe at the historic Lizzie Borden House, 230 Second St.

The Lizzie Borden House, at 230 2nd St. in Fall River.

The Fall River landmark, site of two unsolved 19th-century hatchet murders, is gearing up to celebrate the master of the macabre with a night of readings and performances of select Poe works on March 10 and 11.

Come hear classics like “The Conqueror Worm,” “Annabelle Lee,” The Raven,” and others, along with an original story that will blur the two worlds of history and horror together in a tale of murder and regret.

Members of the tour guide staff will show off their skills in an evening of Tell-Tale Hearts and other shocking delights.

“We are always looking to do new and exciting events at the house. We also have several team members that are professional actors and writers so it seemed natural to work these elements into a cultural event that would appeal to folks that like a good shiver with their stories,” house manager Jared Robinson said in a press release.

An Evening of Poe Works is a family-friendly event, but parents should be reminded that Poe’s work is “a little spooky for young children,” Robinson said.

The event will run at 6 and 7:30 p.m. both nights.

Tickets, $15 each, are available at Lizzie-Borden.com. Tickets can also be purchased in the gift shop located behind the house, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
